You must be at peace within yourself first to find peace in the world. We, women of the world, proclaim, we are at peace with ourselves. Are you at peace with yourself? Set an example of the level of consciousness the world should strive for. ENLIGHTENMENT - Meditation As the world grows more and more polarized, the more difficult it will be to make amends. Now, as a proactive measure, we are announcing we are joining forces all around the world to be extroverted in our attempt to show we are not enemies. This is not about blame. We want something different. Who are we to judge? In Buddhism, there are 3 main afflictions that cause suffering, ignorance, desire, and hate. The emotions that affect the afflictions are pride, anger, jealousy. We can gain wisdom through meditation – resting of the mind. Eventually humans will gain enlightenment. Hope! James Carroll, in the Boston Globe Op-Ed, “Discourse in the Middle East,” February 26, 2007, writing about Jerusalem, asked the most important question of all, or as he called it, the primal question, “Can we believe in the human future?” The question gets right to the source of life. Carroll puts it into simple terms and talks about hope. He wrote hope is “an act of peace.” He was referring to when war comes, people need hope to survive. We need to survive for the future. So, if we are in a war, Carroll states, “…when life and death define the boundaries, to give up hope is not an option.” “Hope is a political act.
