disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.” Jesus, The Prophet - Muhammad, Yahweh, Gandhi, King, the Buddha, Krishna, and many other sages of the past attempted to teach the world that nonviolence was the key to both inner peace and global peace. Are we, as people, able to make it a way of life, to strive for, so that, as author Louise Diamond wrote, “nonviolence becomes our natural path?” Are we able to commit ourselves to nonviolence? Are we able to utilize nonviolence to stop war? Many people believe the answer is yes. They are willing to test to see the strength of nonviolence by setting an example. They are willing to sacrifice and most likely suffer. There is a power and strength in nonviolence. Nonviolence can empower people and eliminate fear! If hundreds, or thousands, or millions of people are together, they will not be afraid. They will feel secure. They will still be danger, but there will be the strength of many, a “critical mass." Gandhi said, “Given the proper training and proper generalship, non-violence can be practiced by the masses of mankind.” We need to practice nonviolence as individuals and as societies. But, not just practice, we must exhibit it so that others see it and know they are not alone. NONVIOLENCE Nonviolence - We have to say it and we have to act it Following a nonviolent path is difficult, requires sacrifice, and often involves confronting mortality; but it is possible. OATH OF NONVIOLENCE There must be an “Oath of nonviolent direct action” - if need be I pledge my life to nonviolence With CALM PERSISTANCE - SILENCE vs Boistrous - We RESIST. To set an example of non-violence SYMBOLISM There is a stereotype that women are less violent. Stereotypes are based on truth. The women of the world have a strength to offer that is currently not being utilized. If that strength exists, why not use it? Set an Example - Prototype PROCLAMATION “With respect, we, the women of the world are declaring that we will not allow war in the world and we will intervene with every NON-VIOLENT means possible to prevent it or stop it! We do this “For the Children.” The proclamation says, Stop the Next War Now, and “Women Say No To War.” With every declaration is a statement of nonviolence. MLK said, “…choice is either nonviolence or nonexistence.” Father John Dear wrote, while in India researching Gandhi, “In all his words, one theme persisted. Whatever crisis or catastrophe presented itself, Gandhi offered the same answer: steadfast, persistent, dedicated, committed, relentless, truthful, prayerful, loving, active, creative nonviolence.” PEOPLE A “Global Strategy of Nonviolence” is a commitment to nonviolence, something everyone can relate to. Is a nonviolent initiative able to be implemented by the people, in each country of the world? Would people do this for themselves? Would people do it for the children? A “Global Strategy of Nonviolence” states that the time has come for nonviolence to be the focus of all societies and countries. Most people do not want to see or hear about people killing each other or at each others throats. We have to find a way to make peace. |
