PLEDGE
From: Sacred Heart - Newton Country Day School (NCDS) ---------------------------------------------- As a community, we the students and faculty of NCDS pledge to love one another as God has loved us; to treat others as we would like to be treated; and to accept others as they are. We pray for the well-being of those who are victimized by hate crimes and for the unity of our country and our world. As a community, we the students and faculty of NCDS pledge to educate not only ourselves but also our community about discrimination, stereotypes, and injustice. We pledge to respect and advocate the acceptance of differences of opinions. As a community, we the students and faculty of NCDS pledge to be aware of diversity issues; to fight the ignorance of hate crimes; to break down stereotypes; to understand and respect other religious traditions; to speak out on wrongs in the world; and to learn from and to love people’s differences. As a community, we the students and faculty of NCDS pledge to find common ground; to welcome those persecuted for their identities; to prevent the exclusion of others; and to work to build acceptance among our different communities. As a community, we the students and faculty of NCDS pledge to grow continually in our knowledge and awareness of the diversity among us. We agree to respect and appreciate the differences of all ethnic, religious, and cultural groups. October 2001 ---------------------------------------------- |
